My interest in biology inspired me to join the biology program at the University of Tehran. From the start, I have been eager to learn and have excelled in my studies. During my BSc, I participated in a research project on the germination of Medicago, where we looked at how light and cold affect seed germination. This experience helped me understand dormancy and the mechanisms of gene regulation.
As an MSc student at the University of Tehran, I had the opportunity to investigate the potential of elicitors to enhance secondary metabolite production in Datura stramonium. This research spanned over a year, during which we employed varying concentrations of methyl Jasmonate and Real-Time PCR to investigate mRNA expression. In the subsequent phase, we utilized HPLC to determine the changes in the amounts of atropine, hyoscyamine, and scopolamine. Finally, we merged data on gene expression and metabolite content to conclude. This research was funded by the University of Tehran (grant number 7101007/6/13), and the data were published in the Life journal in May 2024.
