I hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Music (Classical Percussion Performance) from the Universidad de los Andes and completed advanced, specialized studies at the prestigious "Simón Bolívar" Music Conservatory in Caracas under Prof. Yvan Hernández.
Throughout my career, I have had the privilege of participating in international masterclasses and seminars with world-renowned percussion and drum masters, including Dave Samuels, Tom Toyama, Anderson Quintero, "Nene" Quintero, Andrés Briceño, and Juan Álamo.
My Professional Experience Includes:
Orquesta Sinfónica Simón Bolívar: Former percussionist member, participating in high-profile international concert tours, including performances in Mexico City and across Europe.
Orquesta Sinfónica Municipal de Caracas: Former member of the percussion section.
5+ Years as a Faculty Professor: Teaching formal percussion and drum academies within the world-renowned El Sistema orchestral program.
Digital Session Artist & Transcriber: Active freelancer on top international platforms (Fiverr & AirGigs), providing high-end drum transcriptions, acoustic tracking, and realistic MIDI humanization for producers worldwide.
I am currently based in Antalya for the season, performing live and offering premium private lessons exclusively via home visits (available in districts like Konyaaltı, Muratpaşa, Lara, and surrounding areas). Hello! I’m Josué, a professional drummer, classically trained percussionist, and session musician with over 20 years of experience. I offer premium, personalized drum lessons in the comfort of your own home here in Antalya.
Whether you are sitting behind a drum kit for the very first time, looking to master jazz comping, or an advanced player wanting to polish your hand technique and rhythmic vocabulary, I bring the academy straight to your living room.
Note: For these in-home lessons, you will just need your own drum kit (acoustic or electronic) or a practice pad/snare drum to get started!
My teaching methodology bridges the gap between traditional musicianship and modern music production, built on three core pillars:
Instrumental Technique & Ergonomics: We will master stick grips (matched and traditional grip), rebound control, independence, dynamics, rudiments applied to the kit, fills, and advanced chops—ensuring correct posture at your own setup.
Groove, Style & Humanization: You will learn how to lock in with the bass, develop a deep sense of time, and play authentically across multiple genres—specializing in Jazz, Swing, traditional Latin-American rhythms, Rock, and Pop. I also teach how to bring digital drum programming to life with a realistic, human touch.
Reading, Charts & Orchestral Percussion: As a session transcriber, I can teach you how to read drum notation, transcribe tracks, and write charts. Additionally, if you own mallet instruments (Marimba, Vibraphone, or Xylophone), I offer specialized instruction in classical percussion and 4-mallet techniques.
My approach is highly detail-oriented. We won't just practice patterns; we will focus on the subtle details of posture, micro-timing, and sound production that elevate you from a player to a true musician.
