I occasionally play in the daily team matches hosted by Melih Özdil at 9:00 New York time, which gives me regular exposure to high-quality competitive play. I’m also a professional musician with a long-standing interest in analytical games like bridge. Outside of teaching, I enjoy cycling and reading, habits that keep me focused, disciplined and mentally sharp. I also enjoy watching films and series in my free time.

I teach using a clear and structured approach supported by selected training hands collected over many years by Melih Özdil, an all-time master player and one of the most respected Turkish bridge teachers. These hands are not difficult or overwhelming; they are carefully chosen positions designed to illustrate key concepts in an effective and understandable way. I also use additional deals from my own BBO games and can present them on request to show my playing background.
My lessons cover the 2/1 system and detailed instruction on essential conventions such as Stayman, transfers, competitive bidding methods, slam bidding and similar conventions, as well as key topics such as hand evaluation, suit contracts, no-trump play, declarer techniques, defence, signalling, counting, hand planning, safety play, suit combinations, endplay situations, advanced NT defence techniques and other related areas. My lessons are carefully tailored to your level, and after working with me your game will improve in every aspect. You can ask questions any time. I also offer coaching for partnerships and bridge teams.
I offer online lessons, live practice and BBO partnership play. Online play is also available. After each session, your game will noticeably improve. The first session is free.

Ilker has been an absolute legend in the way that he has helped me improve my game. We met playing bridge at BBO by chance, and he started giving me little tips to improve my play. Ongoing he has developed high quality lessons and we evaluate our hands after play. My bridge level has increased drastically and this is all because of him. Honestly, I can't recommend him enough!
